Clear Lake, Minn man killed in road construction accident

A 58-year-old construction worker from Clear Lake, Minnesota, died while on the job this morning. The accident happened at a road construction site just off I-29 near Manvel. Highway Patrol officers say the yet unnamed man was operating a concrete grinder just before he was killed around 8:00 this morning.

A 58-year-old construction worker from Clear Lake, Minnesota, died while on the job this morning. The accident happened at a road construction site just off I-29 near Manvel. Highway Patrol officers say the yet unnamed man was operating a concrete grinder just before he was killed around 8:00 this morning.

The man was employed with Diamond Surface Incorporated, based in Rogers, Minnesota. Officers say he was killed instantly. OSHA is investigating the scene since it involves work site safety.

Aaron Hummel, ND Highway Patrol: "In construction zones there's always activity going on and as motorists we need to be aware, and slow down and get rid of distractions in those construction areas."

Rick Else, Safety Consultant: "Make sure the employer is doing OK. Anything I can do for them is what I'm looking for."

The man's employer, Diamond Surface Incorporated, has no comment. His name is being withheld pending notification of family. The accident remains under investigation.
