American Red Cross crews did disaster assessments in Crystal and Grafton Monday, this after recent flooding forced many residents near the Park River out of their homes.

These last weeks of heavy rain have really affected the cleanup process for the American Red Cross. More than half of the basements in Grafton received some kind of water damage this season along with many in Crystal. We talked with Red Cross Regional Director Tom Tezel, who led today's assessments. Tezel says he's heard a lot of people say that they've never received water in their basements, so this event was very different for both Crystal and for Grafton.

Tezel: "The resiliency is amazing, positive attitude. Everyone wants it to quit raining but everybody knows they're going to get through this."

The Red Cross is prepared to provide relief until the rain spell disappears.
