Child reportedly on life support after bike accident in Hettinger, N.D.

Though reports were conflicting Thursday on his condition, a boy suffered life-threatening injuries after a bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle Wednesday evening in Adams County.

HETTINGER, N.D. -- Though reports were conflicting Thursday on his condition, a boy suffered life-threatening injuries after a bicycle he was riding collided with a vehicle Wednesday evening in Adams County.

Adams County State's Attorney Aaron Roseland said the boy, identified by his grandfather as Dylan Jahner, was riding a bike at an “unregulated intersection” in Hettinger around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred.

Acting as a spokesman for Adams County, Roseland said Thursday afternoon that the child had died, though he recanted his statement later, saying the information he gave earlier was based on “rumors around town.”

Dylan’s grandmother said he was on life support Thursday evening. He had recently finished third grade at Hettinger Elementary.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Collins deferred all questions to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, which had not released any information about the accident as of Thursday evening.
