A lifeguard at the East Grand Forks pool came to the rescue of a boy who nearly drowned Sunday evening. 17-year-old Taylor Holweger just started her first job as a lifeguard at the East Grand Forks pool, and it really didn't take long to put her skill to the test.

Holweger had been in the lifeguard chair for just two weeks when she spotted a 5 or 6-year-old boy she thought might be in trouble.

Taylor: "...And he started rolling from his front to his back and he started moving his arms and it didn't look right...I picked him up and he was purple and he was really bloated and I could hear him choking on water. We just set him on his side and patted his back and he started puking and he started coughing up all the water."

After that, Taylor says the boy got his color back and checked out as ok, though he was brought to the hospital as a precaution. She says the experience has given her a new respect for her summertime job.

Taylor: "I just realized just how big this and how important it is to watch."
