It turns out you can make noise in the library after all. Youngsters took a break from reading at the Grand Forks Public Library Tuesday to sing songs and make some noise.

Children and parents enjoyed both at the library this morning. The event is part of the library's preschool storytime program featuring Andrew Knight of Grand Cities Music Together. Knight says music can play an important role in early childhood.

Knight: "You can wake up to music, you can go to sleep with lullabies, you can use music to play in the middle of the day. You can use music to help them remember how to wash their hands the right way. Music can play an important part of their life everyday."

Young children of various ages are able to participate in Grand Cities Music Together. More information on the program can be found at http://gcmt.org. Also, the preschool storytime program is held every Tuesday in the public library at 10am.
