The Catholic Diocese of Fargo has has a new leader this Wednesday evening. John Folda was installed as the new bishop for the eastern North Dakota diocese this afternoon.

He was called to the post by Pope Francis in April. The diocese serves more than 72,000 people in 130 parishes. The 51-year-old Folda comes from the Diocese of Lincoln in Nebraska. He succeeds Samuel Aquila, who left as Fargo bishop a year ago after a decade in the position to become the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Denver.
