North Dakota and Minnesota townships that once fought over flood issues in the Olso area are coming together for a new bridge. Four townships on both sides of the border have formed the Border Township Associative Group.

It used to be a border battle over flood issues that once resulted in a law suit between Minnesota and North Dakota, but things have changed. The Minnesota Townships of Higdem and Oak Park and the North Dakota townships of Turtle River and Walshville have come together to start a big push for a new bridge at Oslo. Township officials say they have had enough with the damage caused by frequent flooding made worse by the bridge holding back water.

James Bergman, Border Township Associative Group Member: "We both have the same problems on both side of the river, we are starting from the bottom up and saying lets work together let get this fixed and get on with life."

The Border Township group recently sent out a letter to their respective county and water governing bodies calling a attention to the issue. The group is against millions of dollars in proposed repairs, saying it would be money foolishly spent when a new bridge is needed.
