Lawmakers are downright angry and calling for action following the death of a 3-year old girl on the Spirit Lake Reservation last week. Senator Heidi Heitkamp says it's "all hands on deck" in figuring out a way to save at-risk children on the reservation. It's been six days since the child died and today the FBI still has no new details.

Senator Heitkamp is demanding answers. She says she can't understand how another child has died. She says it appears another child has fallen victim to a child protection system that is broken, despite more than a year passing since the takeover of child protection services at Spirit Lake by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The FBI is the lead agency on the case but so far no information has been revealed, not even the name of the victim. It's this lack of information that has lawmakers like Senator Heitkamp and Senator John Hoeven outraged. Heitkamp says her main question is how the child was taken out of foster care and ended up in this home, where she was found dead. Heitkamp contacted the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Department of Justice and she even went to the White House Chief of Staff demanding action. Also, Heitkamp hopes to be able to monitor tribal court orders for children returning to the reservation so that they can be better protected.

Heitkamp: "Me, I think it is incredibly disturbing, it is incredibly sad and we all share the responsibility for the safety of every child within the boundaries of north dakota."

Heitkamp says she wants to be respectful of the investigation process but not when there are children still at risk. Because of the tight lipped investigation Heitkamp can't learn from this child's death to help repair the child services program and save other kids.

Meanwhile, after repeated attempts to contact the FBI, we still have no answers and no further information regarding the death of the three-year-old girl, who died six days ago.
