Sheriff's department recovers body of Lisbon man, swept away by flood waters

Authorities in Ransom county have recovered the body of a Lisbon man who drowned after floodwaters swept his pickup off a a busy highway. It happened north of Gwinner on Highway 32. The Ransom County Sheriff's Department says 48-year old Jim Materi was driving back from work at Bobcat when he hit the flooded road.

The Ransom County Sheriff's Department says 48-year old Jim Materi was driving back from work at Bobcat when he hit the flooded road.

The strong current carried his pickup several yards before it went under. Rescue teams could not reach him in time.

Travis Paeper, Sargent County Sheriff: "He was trapped, unable to swim could not kick out the windows Gwinner fire was here right away but as the firemen were running up the vehicle it went under".
