The wait is almost over. On Wednesday the Greater Grand Forks Fair gates open to the public. As we count down to the fair local 4-Hers are in full swing getting ready for the biggest week of the year.

While the fair on the surface is all bout ferris wheels, funnel cakes and corn dogs, the real purpose is the 4-H kids with their animals and exhibits. And that's something these kids work hard on all year round. Kids in 4-H spend the entire year working on various projects to be displayed here at the fairgrounds. Many of the kids work on wood working, sewing, and even baking to present to judges. Aside from these exhibits, kids bring in animals such as chickens, dogs and horses that will be showcased in various shows throughout the week. We spoke with Carrie Knutson with the Greater Grand Forks 4-H and she said the 4-H kids always look forward to the fair.

Knutson: "Yes our 4-h familieis and 4-H'ers look forward to this time of year, it kind of highlights their accomplishments and their work throughout the year, they highlight their projects that they've been working on in our static interview judging and they also get to show their animals and work with them during the week."

For those interested in attending the fair is this Wednesday through Sunday. It's $5 at the gate, which covers the cost of touring the fairgrounds, special events and the grandstand admission. There is also a daily $25 pass which is good for all the rides, and finally the $50 Mega pass, good for rides & admission every day of the fair.
