Pembina County Investigates Attempted Abduction

The Pembina County sheriff's department is investigating an attempted abduction on a 10-year-old girl in Walhalla.

The Pembina County Sheriff is investigating an attempted abduction on a 10-year-old girl in Walhalla.

Sheriff Brian Erovick says that on Thursday, February 25th, a 10-year-old girl was walking home from school when a man tried to get her into his pickup. The girl refused and her mother called police when she got home.

Pembina and Cavalier counties contacted local schools in the area on Friday to be on alert for the suspect.

The girl described the suspect as driving a white newer (not full size) Ford or Chevy pickup with Texas plates. The numbers 852 were identified on the plates by the girl.

The pickup also had a dent in the front driver's fender. The windows are tinted and the truck also had a loud muffler on it. The box of the pickup contained a tool box and an air compressor.

The driver is said to be a heavy set hispanic man in his mid-twenties.

He has an earring, was wearing a blue Dallas Cowboys jacket and blue Dallas

Cowboys hat with sunglasses on the top. He left Walhalla heading east on County 9.

In September of 2007, a 17-year-old girl reported being approached by a hispanic man driving a white pickup truck. Pembina county investigated but did not find the man. They do not suspect that the 2007 attempt is related to this latest one.
