Just in time for the fourth of July weekend, new DUI laws are taking a tougher approach on drinking and driving. Both first time and repeat offenders will be facing stiffer penalties. Some of the changes include increased fines and mandatory jail sentences. There is also a new law that will have people thinking twice about saying no to the breathalyzer.

Lt. Mike Ferguson: "Refusal to submit to an onsite screening or chemical test is now a criminal offense. The level of the offense would be whatever the DUI would have been for that."

You can find more information about the new laws and a comparison to the old laws here and here.
