North Dakota's former first lady Jean Guy has died, her children said today.
Her husband, Democrat William L. Guy, was governor from 1961 to 1973. He died April 26.
“Jean Guy died peacefully early this morning, surrounded by her family, following a stroke she suffered 2 weeks ago,” their children said in a statement. “She spent more than 70 of her 90 years with the love of her life, our father, Bill. She was his best friend and closest adviser. Their marriage was, in every way, a true and loving partnership. Life had not been the same for Mom since Dad’s passing in April. We take comfort in knowing that they are now together again.”
They said they will announce funeral arrangements soon.
The children include William Guy III, James Guy, Deborah (Guy) Igoe, Holly (Guy) Mossberg, and Nancy Guy.
