Fire damages 5 businesses, displaces 5 families in downtown Fergus Falls

A fire that started in a downtown Fergus Falls apartment Sunday night has grown to displace five families and damage five businesses and it continues to burn this morning, according to a written statement released by Fire Chief Mark Hovland.

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – A fire that started in a downtown Fergus Falls apartment Sunday night has grown to displace five families and damage five businesses and it continues to burn this morning, according to a written statement released by Fire Chief Mark Hovland.

At least one firefighter was injured in the blaze and a total of 102 firefighters have helped fight the fire, Hovland said.

Nine fire departments have provided mutual aid and two additional fire departments have been asked to assist.

The fire was reported about 10:20 p.m. at 229½ W. Lincoln Ave.
