St. Michael woman pleads guilty to felony child abuse, witness tampering

A St. Michael woman pleaded guilty Monday to felony child abuse and witness tampering in the death of her step granddaughter last month.

A St. Michael woman pleaded guilty Monday to felony child abuse and witness tampering in the death of her step granddaughter last month. Each of these counts carries a potential of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Hope Tomahawk Whiteshield's 2-year-old Granddaughter Laurynn Whiteshield was killed after whiteshield allegedly threw her down an embankment near the familiy's home. Court documents say Whiteshield put laurynn in pajamas and put her to bed as she remained unresponsive. Whiteshield says she threw Laurynn down the embankment because she was "getting depressed about having kids all the time."
