BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - South Dakota Sen. John Thune will be the

featured speaker during the North Dakota Republican state

convention later this month.

State Republican chairman Gary Emineth says Thune will speak to

North Dakota GOP convention delegates on Saturday, March 20.

Republicans are holding their convention that weekend at the Alerus

Center in Grand Forks.

Thune defeated Senate Democratic majority leader Tom Daschle in

2004, and he's been mentioned as a possible presidential candidate

in 2010. Emineth says Thune broke a tradition of Democratic Senate

control in South Dakota six years ago, and he says North Dakota

Republicans hope to do the same this fall.
