The man who had 170 dogs seized from his Wheatland farm is now asking for the animals back. On Friday, Darcy Smith filed with the Cass County Attorney's office, pleading for the puppies. Two prosecutors addressing this case say this is just the start of a long civil battle.
They say it's not uncommon in situations like this for property to be forfeited or seized. But, they're not ready to call this case hoarding quite yet. Smith will appear in court Tuesday, July 30th. The dogs continue to recover at the Casselton Vet Clinic.
