The worst construction delays are nearly over for Lake Region drivers. The Department of Transportation is working on two main projects this summer -- resurfacing highways 20 and 57 south of town and adding a box culvert on Highway two east of town.

Traffic has been condensed to two lanes on Highway Two, but the project south of town has required drivers to wait for pilot cars to get through. But work is nearly done on 20 and 57, meaning drivers should stop being stalled on the road as soon as Wednesday.

Wayde Swenson, Department of Transportation: "You should see a lot less after today. The main stretch, when the top lift's done they'll put a temporary strip down, and you should see a lot less piloting."

Crews should be done repairing highways 20 and 57 by mid-August, and the Highway Two project is scheduled to wrap up in October.
