We could know next week if a Wheatland breeder will get back more than 170 dogs seized from his farm this month. All but 14 of the 174 dogs have found temporary foster homes.

Authorities say so far the costs of caring for the dogs since they were seized on July 10th has topped $100,000

The community has donated about $33,000 to help. The Casselton Veterinary clinic plans to waive the remainder of the cost. The dogs were found in cramped, unsanitary conditions, without food or water, some sick with severe matting of their fur.

The Dog's owner, Darcy Smith, will be on court on Tuesday attempting to get the dogs back.
