The East Grand Forks Heritage Village is dedicating a space to Brad Nelson, the East Grand Forks farmer who died in a tractor rollover accident last month. Nelson and his family were very involved at the Heritage Village, and a trading post will be built in his honor.

We spoke with Brad Nelson's daughter Kim, who is a board member at the East Grand Forks Heritage Village. Kim says the Brad Nelson Trading Post will provide education on hunting, fishing and trapping. The trading post will be staged as a store front next to Marion's barbershop. Brad played a major role at the heritage village as one of the main cooks for heritage days. She says building a trading post in her dad's name will be one of the best ways to honor him, as he was very passionate about trapping. "Anybody that knew him when he talked about trapping, he got a big twinkle in his eye and a huge smile on his face, so it's just one way to recognize him and what he did," Kim said.

The village expects the trading post will be finished next year. Kim says the Heritage Village is accepting donations to go toward the project. For more information, click here.
