Costs in the fight against West Nile are adding up. The city is working not only to bring down the number of the bugs but also to prevent the spread of the West Nile virus which as been found in birds and mosquitoes.

Mosquito Control Supervisor Todd Hanson estimates all prevention procedures this year could run as high as $900,000 about a quarter of a million dollars more than last year. Even with the extensive work by mosquito control, People should also be protecting themselves. Hanson says just one city wide spray cost about $4,000.
