The family of two victims killed by a drunk driver are putting up memorial signs near the accident site this Monday.

19-year-old Tasha Brenno and 21-year-old James Freestone died near the intersection of Columbia Road and 17th Avenue South in Grand Forks. Since then, loved ones have kept a memorial at this site, but a policy passed this year by city council prevents typical items like flowers and crosses from being placed.

Instead, the policy allows for a 30 dollar plaque, owned by the city, which can sit at the site for up to 10 years. We'll speak with the families tonight on news at six.
