Jealousy motive in New York Mills murder-suicideAuthorities say a murder-suicide in New York Mills had its roots in jealousy.
NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say a murder-suicide in New York Mills had its roots in jealousy.
Otter Tail County sheriff's officials say 20-year-old Ethan Honer, of Dent, was fatally shot at a home in New York Mills on July 31. Authorities say the gunman, 23-year-old Jacob Geiser, of New York Mills, died the next day after shooting himself.
Sheriff Brian Schlueter tells the Star Tribune of Minneapolis it was an "ex-girlfriend situation." He says the woman went to Geiser's residence to pick up her dog and brought along Honer, her new boyfriend. He says Geiser wasn't supposed to be home.
The woman called 911 to report the gunfire. Honer was dead at the scene. Geiser died the next day at St. Cloud Hospital.
