Hoeven hopes to get a farm bill passed before September deadline

After a year of debate, time is running out on the farm bill. It expires at the end of September. The Senate bill reduces spending by $24 billion. The farm portion of the House bill cuts spending by $19 billion.

After a year of debate, time is running out on the farm bill. It expires at the end of September. The Senate bill reduces spending by $24 billion. The farm portion of the House bill cuts spending by $19 billion.

Senator John Hoeven said, "This is an achievable compromise somewhere between the 24 billion and 30 billion in all out reductions. Including 8-10 billion in food stamps is something that I think people thought might end up being the compromise."

Hoeven hopes to get a farm bill passed before the September deadline.
