Wind Turbine Tower Manufacturer Chooses Site

A company hoping to build a Bismarck plant this year to manufacture wind turbine towers has chosen the Northern Plains Commerce Centre as the site.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A company hoping to build a Bismarck plant

this year to manufacture wind turbine towers has chosen the

Northern Plains Commerce Centre as the site.

Schuff Steel Co. of Phoenix has qualified for $7.1 million in

federal tax credits for the project.

Executive Vice President Dennis Randall says the company chose a

site at the Commerce Centre because of its rail link. He declined

to provide lease terms.

The company's plans are for a 70-acre site. Randall says the

company is lining up financing for the project and customers for

its products.

The 243-acre industrial park was completed in 2008. Its sole

occupant has been Bobcat Co., which closed its manufacturing plant

in Bismarck in December but still uses the NPCC for shipping to and

from its other plants in the region.
