The City of Grand Forks and the University of North Dakota took the firsts steps Tuesday to promote responsible alcohol use in the community. The campus community committee was formed last month to battle high-risk alcohol use. The committee is comprised of members from city council, UND faculty, and students.

Members of the committee met earlier Tuesday evening to discuss possible goals as they move forward. Representatives from Altru, the eagles club, and local bars were present to lend their support. Some ideas have been suggested, those include; having bars restructure their drinking specials and creating alcohol-free events. Co-chair Ken Vein says this is a slow process but he's hopeful for what can be accomplished.

The next committee meeting will be held on August 28th.
