The Grand Forks Central football team is setting the bar higher..one day at a time.
Bill Lorenz, Grand Forks Central head coach, "Our goal for tomorrow is to get better. Whether it's technique, a route, assignments, anything. We just want to be a little bit better tomorrow and we want to build each and every day. We don't want to take any steps back."
The Knights are walking in the right direction. Despite only one win last season, the maroon and gray are trying to build off the fall of 2012.
Joe Martin, Grand Forks Central senior linebacker, "We started the season off kind off rough but then started to finish it out pretty good. It was nice to see that everyone continued to work hard throughout the season even though things weren't going the way we wanted them to. But hopefully this year we can turn things around."
They will have to do so with only 39 varsity players on the roster.
Dan Miller, Grand Forks Central senior lineman, "We might not have the numbers but we definitely have pride and we will work hard to get there. I'm hoping that we can mend as a team and we can win and go to the playoffs."
Leaving it up to the players to get there.
Lorenz, "We're going to condition them but it's ultimately up to the players. The players have to come together, they have to rely, they have to lean on each other, support each other and make each other better. That's what we're stressing here in the preseason."
