Williston Police See More Calls For Service

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Williston police say they saw a sharp
increase in calls for service last year, leading to more
investigations, arrests and citations.
Chief Jim Lokken says a big reason is the city's growing
population due to the boom in western North Dakota's oil patch.
The police department received 6,089 calls for service in 2009,
up 10 percent from the previous year. Williston police made nearly
twice as many felony arrests last year as they did in 2008.
Lokken said there also were some "high-profile" cases last
year, including an armed bank robbery.
