WHITE EARTH, Minn. – Becker County Sheriff’s deputies responded Thursday night to what appears to have been an accidental shooting.

Becker County Sheriff Kelly Shannon said in a news release that deputies responded to a report of a drive-by shooting at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday.

When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim, Kristopher Lee Villebrun, 28, had been shot in the upper part of his leg.

Shannon said there was no evidence to support the claim that the shooting was a drive-by. It appears Villebrun accidentally shot himself, the sheriff said.
