Tribal police have confirmed that they detonated a device after receiving a bomb threat to Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten.

The Grand Forks Regional Bomb Squad was dispatched to the college where sources say police found a suspicious device resembling a pipe bomb in a weight room. Authorities evacuated the school at about 1:00 pm. It was registration day today (Tuesday) so there were many people at the college. Police set up a large perimeter in the back area of the school. The bomb squad detonated the device between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Sources say the device was not an explosive. It appeared to be a homemade weight, with a similar shape to a pipe bomb.
