Red Lake County returns eight starters on offense and seven starters on defense as the Rebels are looking to make a run at the section championship.

But a section title won't be easy for the Rebels. Standing in RLC's way is the Minnesota Class A defending state champion.

Brian Remick, Red Lake County head coach, "Anytime you play a quality program and a top team like Mahnomen, they're going to be one of the top teams in the state again. It adds a little bit, you want to see what you can do against teams of that caliber."

Red Lake County went six and five last season, two of those losses to the Indians, adding fuel to the Rebels fire.

Jake Magnell, Red Lake County senior running back/linebacker, "The section championship left a sour taste in our mouths."

The blue and white might have what it takes in the fall of 2013 to take the next step and it starts with attitude.

Remick, "Number one priority is to make sure that we're physical, a hard-nosed football team."

That hard nosed football team is led by their offensive line, which returns four seniors and will be blocking for a veteran backfield.

"Offensively, we're going to run the football. That's where our strength is, we feel we have a number of backs back there as well as our quarterback."

The message is simple on the practice field.

Matt Eskeli, Red Lake County senior offensive lineman/linebacker, "We're definitely going to have to be sharp, no mistakes and just play aggressive, hit, and play as hard as we can."

We want to be the team this year that is the winner of the section."

Magnel, "Once you walk off that field in the dome and you look at the winning team, you want that feeling too and thinking about that all summer drives you."
