The FBI and BIA are investigating Tuesday's bomb scare at Cankdeska Cikana Community College on the Spirit Lake Reservation.

A bomb squad detonated the suspicious item on Tuesday, after the college was evacuated. Everything is back to normal Thursday at the college. Vice President of Academics Lane Azure says the object was found in the school's gym, and turned out to be a homemade weight. He says business resumed as normal Wednesday.

The bomb scare took place during registration week on campus. The FBI says it's possible the device was placed to cause a scare during registration, but that it's hard to say at this point. Azure says the school is trying to determine who left the item in the gym. Azure says the incident has caused the school to look into more emergency drills to better prepare the school's staff.
