Three people have been arrested following a car chase through Grand Forks. The chase took place at about 8:45 Wednesday night.

Witnesses saw police with guns drawn on the city's south side near 9th Ave S and S 12th St. The chase ended close to the downtown area on the south end of Grand Forks. Police were looking for 34-year-old Kenneth Chavez of Grand Forks.

The Grand Forks Sheriff's department says Chavez was wanted on warrants in Polk and Pembina. Earlier in the day deputies went a home in Emerado where he was reported to be, but he fled on foot. Wednesday night he was then reported to be in a car in Grand Forks. A border patrol agent spotted it and the pursuit began. Authorities says the speed didn't go much over 40 miles per hour and after five minutes the car stopped. Chavez got out to run but was tazed and arrested. Sheriff Bob Rost says with city police, the sheriff's department and border patrol all working together it ended quickly.

Chavez will now face additional charges of fleeing from police. The driver of the car, 25-year-old Krystal Nelson of Neilsvielle, Minnesota faces charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and possesion of drug paraphernalia.
