5-year-old Minnesota boy crushed after falling from bucket of loader

A 5-year-old boy was killed in southeast Minnesota on Thursday evening when he was crushed by a skid-steer loader. Matthew Mallett was riding in the bucket of a loader near Cannon Falls when he fell out and was crushed by the vehicle, according to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

CANNON FALLS, Minn. -- A 5-year-old boy was killed in southeast Minnesota on Thursday evening when he was crushed by a skid-steer loader.

Matthew Mallett was riding in the bucket of a loader near Cannon Falls when he fell out and was crushed by the vehicle, according to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office.

Mallett was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Cannon Falls where he was pronounced dead.

The loader was driven by Gail Henderson, 49, of rural Cannon Falls.

Cannon Falls is about 35 miles south of St. Paul on U.S. Highway 52
