A California woman is in the Grand Forks County Jail after the car she was driving was struck by a train.

52-year-old Tamera Michael was arrested for actual physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Michael abandoned her car on the railroad tracks on the city's north side early Tuesday morning. Deputies say she missed a curve on North Washington and wound up driving off-road in the area before getting stuck on the tracks. Michael says she tried to free herself, but couldn't, so she got out and started walking.
