Crookston sees spur of theft, vandalism

Between Saturday, August 24 and Wednesday, August 28 the Crookston Police Department has received three reports of construction trailers being broken into and one report of a garage being broken into. In each of these thefts, miscellaneous air tools, power tools and hand tools were taken.

Between Saturday, August 24 and Wednesday, August 28 the Crookston Police Department has received three reports of construction trailers being broken into and one report of a garage being broken into. In each of these thefts, miscellaneous air tools, power tools and hand tools were taken.

The thefts happened in the areas of Central Avenue North, Eickhof Boulevard, East Robert Street and South Ash Street in Crookston. On Wednesday, August 28, the Crookston Police Department received nine complaints of windows broken out of vehicles by an unknown person(s) between 2:00 and 4:00 a.m. It appears the suspect(s) used a BB gun. These incidents took place in the areas of Widman Lane, Johnson Place and Summit Avenue in Crookston. It is not known if the thefts and the damage to vehicles are related.

The Crookston Police Department is asking for the public’s help by reporting any suspicious behavior at or around construction sites as well as parked vehicles. The Crookston Police Department would also like to remind the public to take special care of their own property by ensuring your vehicles, homes, trailers and outbuildings are secure. Do not leave any valuables out in the open for someone to see.
