Tonight kicks off Friday night football for Grand Forks Public Schools and officials are taking extra precautions to make sure ahtletes are hydrated.
The Activities Association passed down a mandate that for all games this week, officials will call one additional timeout during each quarter. Officials say those extra timeouts will probably be taken in the middle of each quarter. Scorching temperatures already adjusted practice schedules this week for Grand Forks Public Schools. Because of the heat, all practices had to either end before 8 am or start after 7 pm. Athletic Director Mark Rerick says that when it comes to football games, the natural flow of the game helps to make sure that players stay hydrated.
The Central Knights take on Jamestown tonight at 7 pm at Cushman Field. The Red River Roughriders are on the road taking on Bismarck High at 5 pm tonight. Tune in to WDAZ tonight for highlights.
