The city of Devils Lake is looking to find people who may be on the hook for fines. Pat Knutson, the court clerk in Devils Lake, is moving into new digs at the city offices.

The clerk currently to works at the Lake Region Law Enforcement Center. The move is designed to give her more help with her job collecting court and traffic fines. A statewide database keeps tabs on fines, but it's a lot of info to comb through. City Administrator Terry Johnston says she'll have some assistance at city hall.

"We just need to give her a little administrative support. It's a big job, so we've got some room up here and we've got some people with extra time who can chip in," Johnston said.

Johnston says one report shows 800,000 dollars in uncollected fines in Devils Lake, but he says those reports are rarely accurate.
