The potato bowl 10-k run was canceled Friday due to low registration and hot conditions. However, children still showed up in numbers to run the one-mile tater tot trot. About 50 youngsters toughed out the heat to go for the gold. Organizers had plenty of water on hand for the kids and after the run they cooled off by splashing around in a sprinkler. All of the money raised through registration goes to a good cause.

Event Coordinator, Julie Kirkeby says, "All the proceeds go to St. Josephs Food Shelf and Hugo's, who is a major sponsor of the program also matches those dollars."

Next year, organizers say they may cancel the 10-k altogether, and just have the tater tot trot.
