Parents of Warren-Alvarado-Oslo students were scrambling as school was called off early Monday.
Students were dismissed at 10:25 this morning because of a power outage. The power went out around 8:30 am. It came back on around 8:45 but quickly went out again and remained out until about 10:40. City officials have narrowed the problem to underground near the fairgrounds.
Teachers had no access to computers and gathered students around windows for lighting. The biggest concern was feeding the students.
"Without electricity, how do you feed the student body? We did have sandwiches ready to go but once we got the call that it would be a couple more hours that's when we decided to drop the day," said Superintendent Lon Jorgensen.
Some JV athletic activities and a board meeting tonight will be rescheduled.
