Special Olympics to hold State Soccer/Bocce Tournament

Special Olympics North Dakota will be hosting the State Soccer/Bocce Tournament in Grand Forks for the 14th consecutive year on September 14-15 at Bringewatt Park. Close to 350 participants from across the state of North Dakota will compete in this two-day event.

Special Olympics North Dakota will be hosting the State Soccer/Bocce Tournament in Grand Forks for the 14th consecutive year on September 14-15 at Bringewatt Park. Close to 350 participants from across the state of North Dakota will compete in this two-day event.

Events taking place throughout the weekend include: Competition in Soccer and Bocce, Opening Ceremony and Parade of Athletes, Olympic Town activities, an athlete banquet and dance. Athletes in soccer and bocce will compete in traditional and unified sports competition. Unified Sports® combines people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same sports team for training and competition.



Tournament Schedule is as follows:

Saturday, September 14th

8:30 a.m. Volunteer Registration opens

9:00 a.m. Soccer & Bocce Officials training

9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Olympic Town activities

10:00 a.m. Bocce Competition begins

10:30 a.m. Soccer Divisioning rounds begin

12:30 p.m. Opening Ceremony

1:00 p.m. Soccer & Bocce Competition resumes

2:00 p.m. Bocce Awards presentation

5:00 p.m. Bocce Awards presentation

7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Victory Dance held at Blue Line Club Arena

Sunday, September 15th

8:00 a.m. Volunteer Registration opens

8:30 a.m. Soccer & Bocce officials training

9:30 a.m. Olympic Town activities

9:30 a.m. Soccer & Bocce competition resumes

1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Awards presentation
