A fire broke out at the Crystal Sugar Plant in East Grand Forks Thursday evening. At approximately 8:15, the East Grand Forks Fire Department says a pulp drier caught on fire. The fire then spread to the elevators that take the pulp out of the driers. No injuries were reported. The fire department says these kind of fires are not uncommon.

"I cant remember a year where we havent had a pulp drier fire. American Crystal Sugar has been good to work with and they've installed some standing pipes and misting systems to help extinguish the fire, keep the fire down," said Merle Hoversen with the East Grand Forks Fire Department.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
