The Grand Forks International Airport has gotten a 2.4 million dollar grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. The airport is using the money to construct a new snow removal equipment building.

The total project will cost roughly 3.5 million dollars. Officials say they hope to get a grant next year to make up the million dollar difference. Officials say the old structure was built in 1963 and needs replacing.

Patrick Dame with GFK airport says "New equipment that comes out these days is considerably larger than it was 20 to 50 years ago when this airport was built, so we're having struggles getting our equipment in and out of the building."

Construction is set to be complete in November.
