Traffic changing in parts of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks

Some streets in the Grand Cities area have closed while others have reopened as the construction season continues.

Some streets in the Grand Cities area have closed while others have reopened as the construction season continues.

Here are some changes this week:

• In Grand Forks, a section of 17th Avenue South near the intersection with South Cottonwood Street will close for about two weeks starting Tuesday; there will be a detour posted. The intersection itself will remain open. The city said construction crews are working on the storm sewers in that area.

• Also in Grand Forks, a southbound lane on North 69th Street, about half a mile north of U.S. Highway 2, has been closed for repairs. The city said it won’t reopen until about Sept. 20.

• In downtown East Grand Forks, the detour on DeMers Avenue has been removed. The state Department of Transportation said workers will still be wrapping up the project, and urges drivers to use caution. The work included pedestrian ramps and concrete paving.
