The CVS on 32nd and the Hugo's Wine and Spirits store were evacuated Monday after a bomb threat. This marks the ninth bomb threat in the Greater Grand Forks area since March.
Around 2:15 Monday afternoon, employees and customers for CVS and Hugo's Wine and Spirits were told to leave the building after a bomb threat was made. Employees of the stores told WDAZ off camera that the bomb threat came in through a phone call to CVS. CVS and Hugo's Wine and Spirits, which reside in the same building, were then evacuated. Employees and customers were let back in the store around 2:45.
This is the most recent in a string of bomb threats in the greater valley area. On Saturday, police were dispatched to the Grand Forks Kmart after someone phoned in a bomb threat. Walgreens drug stores in Moorhead and Fargo received four bomb threats in less than 24 hours on Friday. The Grand Forks Walmart, Sams Club, Kohls, Hugos and the Hugo's in East Grand Forks have also had bomb threats in the past seven months. Making a bomb threat is a Class C Felony. The charge comes with a maximum of $5,000 fine and/or 5 years in prison.
No suspects have been identified in any of the Grand Forks area bomb threats, but in the past investigators have said they planned to track down cell phone usage and go through cell phone providers to gather information.
