Rising Water Means Rising Anxiety

The Red River is rising - and so is the anxiety level for residents in North Dakota and Minnesota.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The Red River is rising - and so is the

anxiety level for residents in North Dakota and Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says the river could rise as much

as 10 feet in some places in the next week. It was approaching 22

feet in Fargo on Sunday morning, or about 4 feet over flood stage.

Residents in the Fargo-Moorhead area stacked about 6 million

sandbags last year to hold off record flooding. City officials say

they will begin delivering sandbags to neighborhoods next week.

The weather service says major flooding is possible throughout

the Midwest for people living along the Missouri and Mississippi

rivers.
