23-year-old Ryan Mountain of Grand Forks faces charges following a stand-off with police Sunday.

Lt. Dwight Love of the Grand Forks Police Department says police received a tip that an individual with multiple warrants was at the Select Inn on the north side of Grand Forks. Police say Mountain was uncooperative

"He threatened that he had hostages or other people in the room and that he had a possible weapon and we take that very seriously," said Love.

Along with the Grand Forks Police Department, the swat team, crisis negotiations team, Grand Forks County Sheriff's department, and UND police all responded to the stand-off. Police say having a group effort is crucial

After the 90-minute standoff, Mountain surrendered and was arrested. Two other people in the room were found unharmed. Police also arrested 22-year-old Jessica Kirchoffner on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. Police say stand-offs are not taken lightly.

"It's never a joke. When someone threatens any hostage situation or even a gun and they're by themselves and they threaten the officers, you have to take that very seriously," said Love.

Mountain is charged with three Class C felonies and one Class A misdemeanor. The felonies include criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felonious restraint.
