Community mourns loss of East Grand Forks woman in Friday rollover

A community is mourning after the death of an East Grand Forks woman.

23-year-old Stephenie Johnson was coming home from a friend's house when she rolled her vehicle and was ejected from the car early Friday morning. She was rushed to Altru hospital where she died from her injuries.

Johnson graduated from Sacred Heart in East Grand Forks in 2008. She then attended Northland Community College in East Grand Forks and worked at Wonder Years. Police speculate an animal may have run in front of her car.

"The phone was not in use at that time, so we have nothing other than maybe she got distracted or an animal ran out and she swerved for it and tried to correct," said James Tadman with the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

Services are taking place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks. Visitation is Tuesday night from 5-7 PM, with a 6:30 Prayer Service. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday.
