Israeli leader: Don't be fooled by Iran

JERUSALEM (AP) - As Iran's new president prepares to address the United Nations, Israel's prime minister says the world "should not be fooled" by signs of moderation from Tehran.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced deep skepticism about Iran's new outreach to the West, saying it is merely a ploy to ease international sanctions while secretly building a nuclear weapon.

He said Tuesday that "Iran thinks soothing words and token actions will enable it to continue on its path to the bomb."

Netanyahu says he welcomes President Barack Obama's efforts to engage Iranian President Hasan Rouhani in dialogue. But he says Iran's conciliatory words must be matched by actions.
