This Tuesday, Happy Joe's in Crookston honored Rod Amiot, who managed the pizza restaurant for 34 years.
Happy Joe Whitty himself came for the celebration of a man he says promoted food, fun and family in Crookston for a generation.
After spending 47 years in the restaurant business Amiot says he's leaving the pizzas behind to spend more time with his family.
Joe Whitty says "He's been a good friend. Very honest, and just the nicest. We were really friends."
Joe goes on to say that Amiot has served the people of Crookston well. "I never hear anything bad about him."
Ron Amiot says for 34 years his goal was to make anyone who sat down at Happy Joe's feel like family. New management says that goal remains the same.
The celebration also honored Brent Evenson, the new manager. He's been with Happy Joe's since 1986.
"There's a lot of families my age that grew up and now their kids come to Happy Joe's," Evenson said.
Evenson says he wants to continue what Amiot did for community.
Rod Amiot isn't leaving Happy Joe's completely. He co-owns the Crookston store, and says he'll still come in and help when needed.
